What has the past year looked like at SENSE

With the start of the new academic year, our team at SENSE wanted to give you some insight into what exactly has been happening in our study over the past year.
We're incredibly happy to announce that we have seen over 60 babies for our 18 month old visits! We're very grateful to all the families that have given their time to contribute to our research. We have just started conducting our 30 month old visits and we are so excited to welcome back everyone to our lab for another session.
To give everyone a little overview of the past year, here's what a typical testing day looks like for our team:
Welcome family
Our researchers always make sure to give our families a warm welcome. We sit, have a chat, and take some measurements before starting our exciting session.
Time to measure brain activity
We place a sensor cap on the child's scalp and attach a gentle stimulator to their hand to analyse how their brain reacts to vibrations and sounds.
Play tasks
We start doing some play based tasks looking at how the child responds to textures, sounds or images, how they solve problems and how they interact with the world around them.
Questionnaires
Before our families come in we ask them to fill out questionnaires looking at behaviours and development outside the research lab.
We always need more people to join our study so please feel free to take a look at the "Participate" page on our website or alternatively click here:
It's been such an exciting year at SENSE and we're really looking forward to all our upcoming visits!
